The five bus lanes in Swindon which have generated the most fines over the last year have been revealed, in data released by the council.
Many drivers get caught out by accidentally driving in bus lanes on Swindon's busy roads.
But five of these lanes have generated a large number of fines in the town over the last year - between September 21, 2025, and September 22, 2026.
Topping the list is the Penzance Drive bus lane near Designer Outlet Swindon, generating a total of 12,220 fines over the last 12 months.
From the fines that were 'fully paid', £391,280 was brought in in revenue for Swindon Borough Council.
There is then a large drop in numbers to second and third place, which are both bus lanes on Fleming Way in Swindon.
The bus lane labelled 'F02' in the data generated 2,937 fines and 'F03' issued 2,055.
Combined, the two bus lanes on Fleming Way brought in £160,267 for the council, from the fines that were fully paid.
The fourth highest bus lane in terms of fines is on East Wichel Way in Swindon - a total of 1,591.
From the drivers who paid fully, £52,212 went to the council.
Finally, a bus lane on Ferndale Road has resulted in 1,371 fines being issued to drivers over the last 12 months.
£36,592 went to the council from drivers who paid in full.

The Adver has reported on several occasions that the Penzance Drive bus lane at Designer Outlet Swindon is causing problems for drivers.
This has led to the outlet receiving bad reviews on Tripadvisor in the past.
As drivers approach the Designer Outlet, along Park Lane towards Rodbourne Road, the West car park appears on the lefthand side, and the next left turn sends you on to the Penzance Drive bus lane.
Some drivers have been mistakenly turning in here, instead of continuing to the mini roundabout and taking the second exit to Kemble Road, and using the North car park instead, as they should.
The West car park’s entrance is only accessible to cars heading into Swindon via Mannington or Bridgemead.
Motorists have previously shared their views on the bus lane.
Some believe the signage is not good enough, while others claim that bus lane is well sign-posted.
A Swindon Borough Council spokesperson previously said: “This bus gate has plenty of warning signs on either approach.
"It’s not there to trap people and is in place to help public transport work efficiently in this area.
“Drivers who wish to challenge any fines that have been issued to them can use the well-established and independent appeals process."
