Darts shop Oche to open at former estate agent building in Old Town

As previously reported, on September 5, we reported that Atwell Martin, an estate agents based in Godwin Court, Old Town, had closed after 'To let' signage from Brockhurst Property Management had appeared in the shop window, alongside a notice reading: "We're so sorry we missed you."

Brockhurst then confirmed that Atwell Martin moved out of the property and that a new retailer had already been lined up for the unit, with plans to open before the end of September.

The property management company, which has managed the building for the last 10 years, put the unit on the market following Atwell Martin's announcement that they would be moving out and quickly secured a replacement tenant.

Stephen Brickwell, of Brockhurst Property Management, said the new business will be a "unique" addition to Old Town, although he was unable to reveal further details.

He added: "We are pleased to get a retailer going in there. Everyone in that area seems to be doing very well and we are pleased that we can add to that.

"I am sure they are going to do very well."

Now new signs have appeared above the building and darts equipment supplier Oche have teased the move by posting a video to Facebook, where they showed images of the town's most famous landmarks, including a picture of the Don Rogers stand at the County Ground.

Also featured in the post was an image of the now empty letting agent in Godwin Court, Old Town, with the words "Coming Soon" written under the Oche logo.

Oche is a primarily online darts equipment retailer popular amongst professional darts players, and supplies specialised equipment as well as boards, cases and repointing tools.

However the company has recently made an effort to establish a presence on the high street with new locations opening up across the country.

The new Swindon outlet will be one of 3 new Oche locations opening across the country, with the post stating that the shop will be joined by new shops in both Exeter and Minehead.

So far the building's new occupiers have remained silent over a potential opening date, but have shown off a range of products that will be carried in store, including specialised darts, matts and dartboards.
