AN AUCTION in memory of a popular music teacher has raised thousands of pounds towards cancer care.
Jon Smith's family managed to raise £2,754 to be donated to the Great Western Hospital's Dove Unit where he spent many weeks as a patient.
The star item, a football shirt signed by Manchester United star Christiano Ronaldo, went for £380.
Jon, 50, lost a 10-year battle with lymphatic leukaemia and was never well enough to have a bone marrow transplant. He died in April.
The auction was set up by Jon's wife Marie, 47, of Lismore Road, Highworth, and sister-inlaw Lorraine Jack, 48, of Milland Close, Abbey Meads.
