VINTAGE aircraft could take to the skies over Swindon later this month, as a popular wartime shindig returns.
Last September hundreds of people descended on Swindon and Cricklade Railway at Blunsdon as enthusiasts staged the venue's fifth annual wartime weekend. Visitors got to check out military vehicles and period weapons and costumes.
This year's event, which will be staged on September 13 to 14, promises to be bigger and better - and even more visitors are expected. Military vehicles are expected once more and a battle will be re-enacted for the crowd.
But the highlight of Sunday's proceedings, weather permitting, will be a flypast by retired Spitfire and Hercules aircraft.
Mandy Keedwell, one of the event's organisers, said: "This event seems to be getting better every year.
"And as years go by the more people that get to know about us make the effort to come and see us. And then they come back because they like the atmosphere."
Entry is £7 for adults, £4 for seniors and children or £20 for a family ticket, which includes two adults and two children. For tickets details or more information, visit www.swindoncricklade-railway.org
