A HEADTEACHER in Swindon is in line for another award.

Drove Primary School head Nick Capstick has been nominated as headteacher of the year for the West of England Teaching Awards finals.

The accolade is the latest triumph for Drove after it was voted best primary school and nursery in the Adver’s Pride of Swindon awards. It has also been nominated for outstanding community involvement in the Times Educational Supplement (TES) awards.

Mr Capstick will find out if he gets the best headteacher award on June 8 in Bath and the following day he will find out if Drove school wins the national TES award.

He said: “Just to be nominated is amazing. I think the school deserves this far more than I do. I am really honoured and chuffed to bits. I think it is really good for Swindon.

“This has been a stunning year for Drove primary.”

Louise Sheppard, of St Bartholomew’s CE Primary School in Wootton Bassett, is in the running for Governor of the Year at the West of England Teaching awards.

Steve Munby, chief executive, National College for School Leadership, said: “Every year the Teaching Awards show us the inspiring work being done by school leaders all over the country. It's a challenging job and these award-winners show us how rewarding it can be and give a shining example to the next generation of school leaders.”
