TWO health workers are swapping their daily adrenaline rush onboard Swindon’s ambulances for a 10,000ft skydive.
Paramedic Dave Oliver and emergency care assistant Arron Dalby, of Great Western Ambulance Service, will be jumping out of the plane over Wanborough Airfield, next month.
The daring feat is all in aid of men’s cancer charity Orchid.
“I’ve been working for Great Western Ambulance Service for 10 years now and while many would find working as a paramedic an adrenaline rush, when it’s your day-to-day job you need to find that adrenaline elsewhere,” said Dave, 31.
The daredevils will make the leap on July 18 and are hoping to raise £1,000 for their chosen charity. Orchid claims 37,000 men will be diagnosed with a male-specific cancer this year, from sons to grandfathers, men of all ages are facing the risk of prostate, penile or testicular cancer in their lifetime. Orchid fights against male cancer with research, awareness and by supporting patients.
Dave, from Hathaway Road, Upper Stratton, said the idea to make the jump for the charity “just seemed right”.
The duo have raised £600 already but hope to hit their £1,000 target by the afternoon of the jump.
