WORKERS are springing into action to spruce up the Parks and Walcot areas.

A team of street wardens from Swindon Council is removing graffiti from the Cavendish Square area and hedges are being cut in Walcot East to improve access on footpaths.

They will also be knocking on the doors of residents who have parked their cars on verges to give advice on where they can park safely and legally.

The initiative will continue into the school half-term holiday and events are being arranged to involve junior wardens.

Cabinet member for housing David Renard said: "I am really pleased to see the launch of this initiative and to see our wardens working with other partners, who can and will make a difference in these areas.

"I look forward to seeing the positive improvements across Park North, Park South and Walcot East over the weeks.

"It is really important that local residents throw their weight behind these efforts. They can help by keeping their garden and street clean and tidy."
