ATLAS LANDSCAPING

On January 4, 1999, I started working at Kembrey Park as a gardener.

After a short period I was promoted to landscape supervisor. It was at this point that I realised the opportunity of starting a landscaping and landscape maintenance company. This is how Atlas Landscaping came about.

Atlas is now in a position where we are able to offer a comprehensive service to a wide range of clients, who include business parks, various public houses, local business, and new builds, ranging from 60 acres to a small garden. We are also in the final stages of securing another business park and have the opportunity to be sub-contractors to the council, following the completion of part 2 City and Guilds 6156 Streetworks Excavation, enabling us to carry out verge work.

We are very proud to be one of the finalists in these awards. This is made even more special as this is our first year of entering.

It has been an incredibly busy time here at Atlas Landscaping. We have recently been organising our website, recruiting staff, and securing new contracts. We would like to take this opportunity to wish all the other finalists the best of luck in the awards.

ELLERICH TRAINING

WHEN Richard and Ellen Watts received their Certificate of Incorporation and it was dated April 1, they wondered if Companies House was trying to tell them something! They needn't have worried, though, as this April 1 will be their 10th anniversary.

And their growth has been no joke either. During those 10 years, the husband and wife team from Swindon have added a number of select freelance trainers who specialise in a variety of soft skills, including customer service, sales, team building and management skills. They have developed an impressive portfolio of customers too, including their most recent success, a contract for Leicestershire County Council to train Delivering Excellent Customer Care to more then 6,500 staff.

"I think our success has largely come from choosing great trainers who are not only experts in their field, but are reliable and very personable too," says Ellen. "Our business has grown almost exclusively through word of mouth and I believe this can only happen because we deliver results we train in subjects and in a way that has a real impact on an organisation's bottom line profit."

You can meet Ellen, Rich and their team of coaches, trainers and speakers on their website www.ellerich.co.uk where their company motto is Developing your people, so they can develop your business.'

HAIRWARE

Hairware Ltd is delighted to be in the Wiltshire Business of the year awards for the second year running.

We offer an unusual service in the Swindon area (we are based in Stratton St Margaret and have been for the last 10 years) and the country as a whole.

People lose their hair for a variety of reasons, chemotherapy, alopecia, trichotillomania (self harm/ pulling your own hair out), and we have a fantastic reputation in the area so much so that the Ridgeway Hospital recommend that patients come to us.

We try and make a distressing and emotional time as pain-free as possible. People come to see us in tears of distress and go out in tears of pleasure not realising how realistic and natural Revlon wigs are. Women have a preconceived idea of Lily Savage or a pantomime dame. How times have changed!

On the fun side, we are used by the local amateur dramatic societies and historical enactment societies and, of course, we have a cross-dressing clientele. We also do a great range of hairpieces. Something for special occasions such as weddings or parties.

We supply wig specialists and NHS contractors throughout the UK as well as major chains such as Superdrug and Claires. We also have concessions in Selfridges Oxford St London and at Beales in Bournemouth.

We have twice won the Revlon International Distributor of the year award, quite an achievement for a relatively small company, (we only have 16 employed members of staff), and there are more than 40 countries who are eligible for this award.
