After pitting their wits against more than 60 budding young footballers in a beat the keeper competition, Swindon Town FC players have helped Bryant Homes score for Barnardo's.

The event, held at Bryant's Steeple Chase development, saw children stepping up to demonstrate their skills through a range of activities, including target practice and a goal speed challenge against Swindon stars Jack Smith and Kyle Lapham.

After pledging £10 for each competition entrant, Bryant Homes has raised £600 for the UK's largest children's charity.

Sue Sweet, the business fundraiser for Barnardo's, said: "We are delighted to receive such a generous donation. We have a wide variety of projects across Wiltshire, all of which help the most vulnerable members of the community."

Bryant Homes is the official sponsor of Swindon Town's Football in the Community programme, a nationwide scheme, run through professional and non-league clubs to develop a partnership between the local club and community.

Jon Holloway, the development officer for Football In The Community, said: "Our aim is to bring Swindon Town FC and the local community closer together."
