TWO cars parked in town centre car parks were broken into in one afternoon.
Two men were seen smashing the window and stealing a satellite navigation system from one of the cars.
They ran off before police could be alerted.
Officers are now appealing for any information on the crimes.
The first break-in, on Monday afternoon, was at the John Street car park.
The men smashed the driver's side window of a Land Rover parked on the ground floor and took the expensive satellite navigation system.
Shortly after that a vehicle in the Islington Street car park was broken into and again a sat nav system was stolen.
Sgt Nigel Kinderman, of Swindon police, said: "We are seeing a lot of them target sat nav systems that are not built in.
"It's mainly car parks in the town centre that the thieves are targeting."
The first man seen breaking in to the Land Rover was white, aged 19 to 23, 6ft tall, with dark hair and wearing a hooded top.
The second was white, aged 19 to 23, 5ft 9ins tall, wearing a white hoodie and dark trousers.
Anyone with information should call Swindon police on 0845 408 7000 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
