THE former manager of fashion store Harvey Nichols has taken up a new role as director of the Wiltshire Bobby Van Trust.

Jennie Shaw, of Bremhill, near Calne, who managed the flagship store in London for six years, met Rupert Cooper, a trustee of the Wiltshire Bobby Van and offered to help him fundraise.

He said the trust was looking for a new director, to undertake a part-time role two days a week. Mrs Shaw said: "Here was something I could do that was very different to my work in London, and with far less travelling, yet which would represent an opportunity for me to both use my skills and do something really worthwhile."

Since the Trust began in 1998 it has helped nearly 6,000 elderly, disadvantaged or vulnerable people who have been the victims of crime.
