THE majority of Advertiser readers agreed with a decision to close Windmill Hill Primary School in Freshbrook.
In a poll, 62 per cent of readers said they thought it made sense to close the school while 38 per cent disagreed.
As we reported, last Wednesday Swindon Council's School Organisation Committee voted to shut Windmill Hill and Freshbrook Primary and build one new school.
The decision was made despite fierce opposition from parents who formed an action group.
Windmill Hill will shut in September 2007 and a new two-form entry school will be built on the Freshbrook School site, merging the two.
The council is also planning to rebuild Toothill Primary and reopen it as a single form entry school.
It says there will be 680 surplus places in West Swindon schools by 2009 unless it acts now.
