It has been revealed on the South Marston website that a resident Jill Little has made an application to have the recreation group, which is owned by the village, given Village Green status.
The Parish Council are against this application. Providing this status will mean that the Green cannot be developed in the future.
The future of the village is currently a topic of much discussion with polarised views, and much uncertainty. So who should decide what happens to the recreation ground.
Local licensee Bob Feal-Martinez has compiled a short survey asking residents views. This will hopefully appear on the village website and in the Tower and Tap.
"This issue is of the utmost importance to villagers now and in the future and should not be decided by other than villages in a democratic vote. The survey is simply to gauge the view of villagers, asking whether they want a referendum at some point"
The survey is at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NDCGQBY
