TWO spies posing as refugees were executed at Pentonville Prison, London.
“This was the first announcement of the execution of enemy agents in England since the war began,” reported the Advertiser.
Jose Waldberg, a German born subject, and Karl Meier, a Dutch subject of German origin, were arrested soon after arriving in England when they were found to be in possession of a wireless transmitting set.
