THE officer leading the search for Sian O'Callaghan has said that he is content that an assault in Elmina Road yesterday is not linked to the 22-year-old's disappearance.
The Elmina Road incident took place at 10am on Tuesday when a 20-year-old was assaulted by a man, who was believed to have been driving a red vehicle.
Detective Superintendent Steve Fulcher said: "With regards to the red vehicle associated with the assault on a young woman in Elmina Road yesterday, enquiries have been undertaken and I am content that it is not linked to the disappearance of Sian O'Callaghan."
Police said there had been some confusion on social networking sites and they wanted to make the situation clear for members of the public.
