A MAN has admitted using an air pistol to try and prevent his arrest after he had assaulted a woman.
Ricky Bird, of Westmorland Road, pleaded guilty to common assault and two firearms offences when he appeared before a judge at Swindon Crown Court. The 22-year-old admitted assaulting Saskia Leigh in the early hours of Sunday January 16. He also pleaded guilty to possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and making use of an imitation firearm to prevent arrest.
Judge Douglas Field adjourned the case to Friday, May 6 so the probation service can compile a pre-sentence report and released him on conditional bail.
