PEOPLE are being invited to support their local library as part of a national campaign.

Swindon Council’s library service is urging people who are not already a member of their local library to pop down and register as part of National Libraries Day on Saturday.

All libraries in the town are free to join and are open to anyone who lives, works or studies in Swindon.

Library staff will be on hand to find out about people’s favourite books and will also have information on the library service’s new eBooks and downloadable audiobook service, which will be launched next month.

Library members aged eight and over who visit their local library on the day will also have the chance to enter a free prize draw and win a Sony eBook reader.

The Central Library, in Regent Circus, will also host a talk about the literary great Charles Dickens at 2.30pm. The speaker will be local author Keith Hooper.
