SWINDON police discovered an estimated £150,000 haul of suspected class B Drugs in a car travelling on the motorway yesterday afternoon.

Officers pulled over a car near junction 17 on the M4 westbound after receiving indications that it had no insurance.

When they carried out a search of the vehicle they discovered around 6kg of outlawed drug meow meow stashed under the seat.

One man from the London area was arrested and was being questioned at Gablecross Police Station last night.

Sgt Scott Hargreave, of the Dedicated Crime Team, said: “We routinely stopped a vehicle on the M4 as we thought it had no insurance.

“There were some suspicious items on the passenger seat and so we carried out a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

“We recovered about six kilos of what we believe to be meow meow under the seats. We don’t know if the drugs were heading for Swindon – they could have been going anywhere and it is a good thing we managed to stop them.”
