ESTATE agent Richard James has backed a young adventurer's trip to help communities in Kenya more sustainable.

Millie Taphouse, from Ridgeway School, plans to travel to Kenya in 2020 but needs cash to get of the ground.

“The aim of the trip is to help improve living standards for communities in an ecologically sensitive and sustainable way,” Millie said.

“I will help to deliver a number of projects supporting the local community, wildlife conservation and the environment, and see first-hand the challenges that face rural communities.”

Millie decided to offer space on her T-shirt for local firms to sponsor, and Richard James jumped at the chance.

Ross Sutton, director at Richard James, and manager of the Wroughton office, said: “We’ve known Millie’s family since we sold their last home, and we were really impressed with her courage to take on the expedition and volunteer her time to help these communities in real need.

“We’re a people-first business, so we like to get to know the people we’re selling for, and develop a real relationship with them. When Millie approached us we were delighted to be able to help.”

Millie is still looking for more local firms to sponsor her T-shirt, which she is planning to wear at all her fundraising events, in and around Swindon, as well as on the expedition.
