ELECTRICAL contractor HR Hislop pulled out the stops for its 1000th customer.

The Devizes-based firm surprised the lucky winner with a bottle of champagne to celebrate its success after ten years in business.

Owner Harry Hislop congratulated Sue Austin and presented the fizz with Jack Skyrme, the apprentice who installed four lights in the mezzanine of the converted chapel of Sue's house in Cheverell.

Sue, a retired superintendent at Wiltshire Police, said: "This sort of thing never happens to me.

"I was absolutely bowled over when Gill called me from Harry’s office to say I’d won this very special champagne.

“I’m thrilled to support a local business. Harry and his team were fantastic and Jack who did the work for me was awesome.”

Harry said: “It gives me great pleasure to present Sue with this bottle of champagne as a token of appreciation to all our customers over the last 10 years.

"I’m thrilled my company has come through the rollercoaster of recessions and today we’re celebrating transforming somebody’s treasured home with better lighting."
