THE Build a Bear store in Swindon is hosting its first ever ‘Pay Your Age Day’ event tomorrow.

The workshop in the Designer Outlet Centre on Kemble Drive is letting customers pay their children's age in pounds for soft toys instead of the original retail price.

For youngsters to be able to pay the age they are, parents or guardians will need to join the free Build-A-Bear bonus reward scheme.

To get it at the child’s age they must also be present at the time of purchase.

Kim Childs is taking her five-year-old son Riley to the promotion, she said: “He loves this shop.

"This is a great idea and to think he will be able to get one of these for £5 because of his age is a fantastic affordable treat.”

This deal also includes the 'make your own furry friend'.

But additional outfits and accessories are sold separately at full price, and customers can’t combine any other discounts with your purchase.

President and chief executive officer Sharon Price John said: “We have data that indicates Build-A-Bear is a major link with childhood.

“Nearly one-third of our sales are associated with birthdays.

“To go with our new launch we’re hosting the Pay Your Age Day to introduce our year-round ‘Count Your Candles’ offer for guests celebrating a birthday with us in stores.”

In the promotion, anyone aged 14 or under who visits a Build-A-Bear store on their birthday with a reward member will be eligible to buy an item and pay their age.
