The world's first Minecraft-themed hotel is set to open in the UK, bringing the iconic video game experience to life.
Scheduled to launch in 2027, the hotel will be part of a new immersive land at Chessington World of Adventures in south-west London, called Minecraft World.
The project is a collaboration between Merlin Entertainments and Mojang Studios, the company behind Minecraft.
Daisy Mercedes, creative producer at Merlin Entertainments, said: "We promised something truly special when we announced Minecraft World earlier this year, and with Minecraft World Hotel we are offering even more.
"Not only will fans be able to experience the game imagined for real life, but they’ll be also able to sleep inside it, ensuring fans respawn exactly where they want to be."
The four-storey hotel will feature 69 rooms, including 20 premium and 49 standard rooms, and will be fully themed around the game’s signature blocky design.
Guests can expect to see biomes, mobs, and items brought to life in the décor, along with blocky trees, animals, and mine tunnel corridors.
Amenities will include an underwater-themed restaurant and a bar inspired by the game’s Woodland Mansion.
The new Minecraft World theme park land will feature the world’s first Minecraft rollercoaster, Escape The Nether.
The ride promises a high-speed indoor adventure through dark mines before launching riders through a Nether portal into an Overworld-themed area.
Ms Mercedes said: "Seeing the Minecraft World Hotel take shape alongside the attractions we are building at Chessington World of Adventures theme park is a Minecraft fans biggest dream.
"Every room, corridor and detail has been crafted with immense love for this game, the stories made within it and its community."
Filip Keatley Thoms, creative lead for Minecraft Parks and Experiences at Mojang Studios, said: "Bringing Minecraft into an entirely new medium has been a fascinating creative challenge.
"We have thought about everything from the scale of the blocks to how mobs and biomes come to life in the real world.
"Our goal is to create an experience that feels authentically Minecraft and gives guests the chance to experience the game in an entirely new way."
The £50 million project is a collaboration between Merlin Entertainments, the owner of Legoland, Alton Towers and Thorpe Park, and Mojang Studios.
Minecraft is the bestselling video game of all time, with millions of people playing every day.
The block-building video game has previously been adapted into a film called A Minecraft Movie, which was the highest-grossing film at the box office in the UK and Ireland in 2025.
