OLDHAM Athletic have confirmed that Adam Rooney is training with the Latics while his contractual dispute with Swindon Town is resolved.

The striker agreed a two-year deal at the County Ground last August, prior to his original loan move to Wiltshire from Birmingham, but the current Town board are contesting the validity of the contract.

The PFA are now involved in the situation, and negotiations between the relevant parties continue behind closed doors. Until the dispute is resolved, however, Oldham have confirmed that the Irishman will train with the Boundary Park side.

A statement on their official website read: "Adam Rooney is currently training with Oldham Athletic in order to retain his fitness levels whilst he attempts to resolve a contractual dispute assisted by the Professional Footballers Association.

"Adam will feature in the club’s pre-season fixtures.

"Neither the club nor the player will be making any further comment or speaking to the media about this arrangement."
