ADVER Sport's Tom Bassam hands out his ratings from Town's 1-0 win at Southend.

Lawrence Vigouroux

Dealt well with the Shrimpers' aerial bombardment and apart from the odd hairy moment with the ball at his feet, was excellent. Earned the win with a great late save. 8*

Nathan Thompson [C]

On the field for just 10 minutes before going off injured. 6

Raphael Branco

Equally secure either at centre-half or right-back- he's definitely Town's best defender at the moment. 7

Jordan Turnbull (booked)

More assured alongside Williams and drove out of the defence well. 7

Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill

His positioning has improved, but he was slow to get out to Worrall and offered little going forward. 5

Jordan Williams

Moved into defence and it benfitted his performance greatly. The Liverpool loanee looked far more composed. 7

Yaser Kasim (booked)

Kept things very simple and it paid off with a more consistent display. 7

Anton Rodgers

Metronomic if a little unimaginative in midfield. 6

Nathan Byrne

Aside from the assist, Byrne largely failed to deliver when it mattered most. He set the bar high against Bradford and is yet to match it. 6

Michael Smith

Had one shot which went out of the ground. His link-up play was better, but needs to offer more in the opponent's box. 5

Fabien Robert

Scored again and did his best to support Smith up front. The Frenchman mucked in at the back well late on. 8

Subs

Drissa Traore (on for Thompson, 10)

Apart from Vigouroux, was Town's best player. Played with intelligence and composure in front of the back four and linked well with Robert especially. 8

Kevin Stewart (on for Rodgers, 69)

Looked to get on the front foot more than Rodgers but Town were largely in defensive mode by the time he came on.

Miles Storey (on for Smith, 85)

Ran around a bit.
