LET me start by wishing you all a Merry Christmas, happy holidays, festive frivolities.
I hope Santa responds to Luke’s letter and brings him the presents he asked for. The neatly wrapped box set of 24 ‘good performances’. This gift also comes with six gold wrapped ‘Magical Moments’ found in the second layer. The dozen cans of ‘MagiCure’, cures all ills and injuries in an instant with just one quick spray. Two cases of ‘Bring It On’. One drop and it gets anybody pepped up ready to face any team. The infra-red ‘Homing Toe Caps’. Fix these to your boots and no pass will ever go astray again. Oh, and last but not least, that bucket full of goals.
Swindon are on the road yet again over the festive period with trips to Millwall on Boxing Day and MK Dons the following Friday.
These games could be the defining point of Swindon’s season. All three clubs find themselves in the bottom half of the table. Swindon and MK Dons are just three points above the dotted line on 24 points each and Millwall are just four points better off in 14th place. Swindon could do with all six points up for grabs to help them pull away from the drop zone.
I was thinking, with the Town playing both holiday fixtures away from home this season, when was the last time that they played both fixtures at the County Ground?
Well, I will tell you. It was during the 2012/13 season. Well, that’s a bit of a cheat really. Swindon played Tranmere on the Friday evening before Christmas and won convincingly 5-0. Andy Williams missed a penalty which would have given him the match ball. The Boxing Day match was postponed due to a frozen pitch. Then, the next game was on New Year’s Day when we were hosts to Portsmouth. Yet again, we came out on top with another 5-0 win. James Collins fared better than Williams, netting four of the five goals. Happy days.
Please use this thread for both the Millwall and the MK Dons games.
