FAIRFORD Town could clinch the first leg of a historic treble for the club when they travel to Cirencester Town Development tomorrow.

Having booked their place in the final of the Gloucestershire FA Challenge Trophy on Tuesday night with a 3-1 win at Toolstation Premier League leaders Bristol Manor Farm, Gareth Davies' side could complete the first piece of the jigsaw at the Corinium Stadium, with a quarter-final of the Supplementary Cup still to come.

The Cinder Lane side sit 11 points clear at the top of the Hellenic League Division One West table, knowing a win and a slip up for Hook Norton, who are 12 points behind with five games remaining and a vastly inferior goal difference, could clinch the title.

“After Tuesday night and the performance, if we play like that in the next five games, we’ll do alright,” said Davies.

“I think Abingdon did us a bit of a favour on Tuesday, beating Hook Norton. I think now, we have spoken to the players about it, we know what is at stake and we just need to do it now.

“I want to say it is in our hands, we know what we need to do and we have got five games to do it in but it would be nice to do it on Saturday.”

Fairford will head into the game full of confidence after dispatching Manor Farm on Tuesday night, a side who are 13 points clear at the top of their division.

However, Davies is hoping the performance did not take too much out of the legs of his troops.

“They were by far the best team we have played all season,” he explained.

“They are definitely a Southern League side, but, I have to say, our lads went above and beyond on Tuesday, they were absolutely superb.

“The work rate from all of them, it just made me knackered thinking about it.

“You couldn’t fault any of them. I think they have covered every blade at least twice.”

Fairford will be injury free heading into tomorrow’s game with suspended Ryan Stanners the only absentee.

“Nineteen doesn’t’ go into 14, so we will have to sit down and pick a side we think can win the game,” he added. “I have just sent the texts around to check availability and I’d imagine they would all be available.”
