WROUGHTON Reserves got their season up and running with a thumping 5-2 win over Ramsbury this weekend.

The win, which was the reserves’ first of the season, came courtesy of goals from Oliver Armstrong, Ben Leonard, Jamie Pidgeon and Daryll Chambers, who notched twice.

The triumph was also a family affair as the villagers are managed by Ben Leonard's father Ian.

“The thing is we should have won every game we have played so far this season because of the chances we have created,” said Leonard senior.

“It was one of those games where we took our chances and kept them out, the goals we conceded were down to us.

“I wasn’t concerned about the win, it was always going to come. We should have scored eight or nine goals in every game so far.

“It’s silly mistakes at the back which are giving the goals away.

“We scored quite good goals, we have a young team so it is good to see them scoring, because it gives them all a bit of confidence. Hopefully we can go and get better every week now.”

For the hosts, the goals came from Charlie Tippins and Glen Mackenzie respectively.

FC Dorcan were also victorious, Dominic Swan and Luke Murphy putting the hosts ahead, with substitute Finn Wilkinson landing a killer blow from the bench to seal a 3-1 win against Swindon Spitfires.

Lower Stratton were unable to make the most of home advantage, losing 2-1 to Ashton Keynes.

Liam New’s goal proved to be nothing more than a consolation as it was cancelled out by goals from Delroy Fallen and Gregor Pilkington.

Swindon Supermarine DC put five past Stratton Juniors to record a 5-1 win away from home. Billy Miller notched, while Mark Siaw and Kyle Bowyer got doubles.

In Division One, Chiseldon picked up a comfortable three points at home to Brockhill United, winning 3-0.

Iain Williams, Nick Salter and James Lovell scored for the home side.

Marlborough made it three wins out of three with a narrow 2-1 triumph at Highworth Town Development.

Highworth were in with a shout thanks to Brandon Fenwick’s strike, but fell short as Elliot Smith and Ben Crame fired the visitors to victory.

Moredon also came up short in their contest with Village Inn, goals from Paul Stevens and Richard Ellis proving not enough, as they slipped to a 4-2 defeat.

Haydon Wick had to settle for a draw for the third consecutive time as they found no way past New Town All Stars in a 2-2 stalemate.

Ruby Removals continued their superb start to the season with another high-scoring win with North Swindon WMC on the receiving end this time in a 9-0 thrashing.

Daniel Ricketts and Nicos Manolis both scored for Redhouse and Swindon AFC respectively, in a 1-1 draw.
