ROYAL Wootton Bassett A found Division Two leaders Raychem B too strong in their final match of the first half of the season.

Raychem B won the Swindon & District Netball Association’s Winter League match 63-38 with Sarah Elliot Bassett’s player of the match.

Bassett B dug deep in the third quarter for a 52-33 win against Raychem E in Division Four. GA Charly Giles was POM for Bassett.

In the same division, RWB C showed their resilience as they pulled away against Moonraker to win a tight match 45-35, after Moonraker had been two ahead in the second quarter. Kate Pontin (WA) was Bassett’s POM.

In Division One, Lawn A, who had only seven players, were beaten 54-47 by Moredon A. Sophie Ball (GA) was their star player.

Lawn B’s Division Two title hopes suffered a blow as they lost 40-22 at Fairford A, with Holly Atkins (GA) their POM.

Excellent drives into the circle and accurate shooting gave Maddy Goode a well-deserved POM as Lawn C beat Croft B 47-40.

A strong attack from the start paid off for Division Four side Lawn D as they overcame Faringdon 46-22. Jo Griffiths was POM for her excellent shooting.

Division Two bottom side Delta A looked on the positives despite a 42-34 defeat against Burmah B.

None of the Delta players’ heads went down, and they did pull off some fine intercepts in defence to win the third quarter 10-5. Their POM was Jess Sutton.

Delta B notched their fifth win of the season in Division Four with a 43-28 victory against Jets B.

Good centre court moves and the accuracy of shooters Denise Greenberg and Ann Forrester helped Delta stretch their lead. Devina Wilson was Delta’s POM for her dogged defence and interceptions.

n IN a highly physical Regional League Three encounter, Lawn saw off local rivals Nationwide 53-44.

Lawn took the lead in the second quarter and held on.

Nationwide put some runs together, but excellent positional play and shooting by POM Abbie Simpson, and strong fitness and determination saw Lawn home.

n RWB U13 were beaten 16-12 by Croft in the Junior League, with Ella Wheeler player of the match for Bassett.
