FORMER Swindon Town striker Harry Smith will be back at the Energy Check County Ground on the opening day of the new League Two season – but in the away dressing room after signing for Macclesfield Town.
Smith made 19 appearances for Swindon during a loan spell from Championship side Millwall last season, scoring three goals.
After initially agreeing a season-long switch to Wiltshire, Smith’s final game for the club was the 5-2 defeat at Stevenage in the FA Cup second round before returning to the Den early.
The 23-year-old saw his contract expire at Millwall at the end of last season and has now put pen to paper on a one-year deal at Macclesfield.
The Silkmen, who were promoted from the National League back in April, will be Town’s first opponents of the 2018-19 season and will travel to Wiltshire on the opening day on August 4.
