SWINDON Wildcats have made further reinforcements to their netminding department after announcing the signings of Tyler Perre and Michael Crisp.

The duo arrive at the Link Centre and will provide back-up to the club’s starting netminder, Renny Marr, who impressed in his debut season with the Cats last term.

The dual addition means the Wildcats are even closer to filling their roster for next season as they add the final pieces to the puzzle.

Teenager Matt Smital was the victim of Marr’s superb season last term, as he was forced to sit out the majority of the league campaign without seeing much time on the ice, player-coac Aaron Nell putting his trust in the Scot.

Smital has now left the club in the search for game time, allowing teenager Perre and returnee Crisp to fill the void.

Crisp, who was a part of the Wildcats team two years ago, returns to the roster after a year with the club’s second team where he made 24 appearances and recorded a save percentage of .885.

While he is expected to take up the main responsibility of supporting Marr, 17-year-old Perre will also get his opportunity, alongside playing for the second team.

“I’m delighted to have the services of both Tyler and Crispy available to me this year,” said Nell.

“Tyler is a great up and coming netminder and trained with us a lot last year.

“He’s big and he’s agile, he knows what we are about, and he knows he will have to work hard throughout the season.

“Crispy also is a good person to have around, the boys on the team love him and he loves being a part of the Wildcats.

“His enthusiasm rubs off on the rest of the team and that will be a big thing for us.

They will both get the opportunity to be with the senior side and it will be great experience for Tyler playing regular games with the NIHL 2 team.”

Nell also paid tribute to the efforts of Smital, who played a total of 34 times for the club, last year.

“Matt is a very talented up and coming netminder who needs to be starting games all season long, we wish him the very best of luck for the upcoming campaign,” added the Wildcats chief.
