ALUN Rossiter pin-pointed poor gating as the reason behind his side's loss against Wolverhampton Wolves at Monmore Green last night, which further dented Swindon Robins' aspirations of reaching the play-offs.

The Robins slipped to a 53-37 loss against Pete Adams' side, meaning Swindon's run of failing to pick up league points away from home stretched to 10 meetings.

It's a stat that could cost Rossiter's troops a spot in the end-of-season play-offs.

And with only three meetings remaining, Swindon must now win all three of those fixtures if they are to stand a realistic opportunity of poaching a top four spot.

Rossiter said: "It was the same as the last time we raced here. We came back strong at the end but just got left at the gates.

"When we made gates, we won races. But we weren't good enough, it's as simple as that.

"I'm really disappointed, but our performance isn't through lack of effort. When you don't gate in this Premiership, you don't stand a chance.

"The damage was done tonight in the first quarter of the meeting.

"I know this isn't David (Bellego's) favourite track, Troy (Batchelor) rode hard but got nowhere early on - no one can knock his effort tonight.

"Nick (Morris) and Tobiasz (Musielak) both had good nights but we're too inconsistent.

"This is a team built around the top five, and we're not consistent."
