Tobiasz Musielak has vowed to continue battling for every point while Swindon Robins’ SGB Premiership play-off hopes remain alive, despite a 54-36 loss at Wimborne Road against Poole Pirates last night.

Musielak experienced his worst night in Robins colours since joining the club as he failed to score from his four outings.

Only Troy Batchelor (9+1) hit a double figure return as the Pirates dominated the second half of the meeting, earning 5-1 victories in heats 13, 14 and 15.

Admitting the team’s performance was unacceptable, Musielak assured supporters that the Robins’ seven riders will give it their all in what will be a ‘win or bust’ Bank Holiday Monday clash at the Abbey Stadium against Poole.

Musielak said: “We’ve lost another meeting, and the play-offs are so far away from us at the moment. We have to do something to get some points.

“Hopefully next Monday at home will be a good night for us.

“We have to do everything we can for the next couple of meetings.

“We will never give up, that’s not an option for us.

“We all still believe that we can reach the play-offs, and that will stay the case until it’s mathematically impossible.

“I’m enjoying Swindon, I do like the track – it suits my riding.

“We have had some issues with the first corner. If we can fix it, that will help us as a team.”

Pole Musielak finished last in his opening ride after suffering an exclusion for touching the tapes, before a further tapes exclusion in his third ride and last-place finish in his fourth ended a miserable night.

However, he was fortunate to walk away from Dorset unscathed after being involved in one of the worst crashes this season when tangling with team-mate Adam Ellis in heat seven.

Musielak crashed into the back wheel of Ellis after the riders chased the same piece of track.

While Ellis quickly rose to his knees, Musielak remained on the floor for some time before being assisted back to the pits by his team-mates and track medics.

The crash knocked an already injured knee, while also causing minor damage to his shoulder.

“I can feel everything in my body, mostly my knee,” said Musielak.

“I’ve knocked it a couple of times this season, and my collarbone.

“I’m not feeling 100 per cent, but as I’ve said before, I had a terrible meeting and it is my fault.

“I took an outside line exiting turn two, whereas Adam hugged the inside. On the back straight, he changed his line, but he didn’t know I was on the outside of him.

“I had the speed and I didn’t know what to do with the speed, I couldn’t do anything.

“I hit Adam’s back wheel and we went straight into the safety fence.

“It was a heavy crash.”
