SWINDON Robins' SGB Premiership play-off fate could now be determined 24 hours before they face Belle Vue Aces in their final league fixture of 2018 next Thursday.

The BT Sport decision to televise the Aces' penultimate league fixture against top-four rivals Somerset Rebels means that match at the National Speedway Stadium will now take place next Wednesday (September 5).

A Belle Vue victory over the Rebels, led by Swindon's title-winning captain last season Jason Doyle, would end any hopes of Alun Rossiter's Abbey Stadium men finishing in the top four places and advancing to the end-of-season play-offs.

However, should Somerset prevail in Manchester, the door would remain ajar for the Robins, who were crowned Premiership champions last season.

Also in the mix are Wolverhampton Wolves, who are currently two points behind Swindon in the table but have three fixtures remaining, including a trip to Somerset tonight plus the top two of Poole away and King's Lynn at home next week.
