SWINDON College Old Boys coach Jamie Barrett is expecting a tough afternoon when his side make the trip to Frome on Saturday.

The Old Boys made a great start to their Southern Counties South season with a 40-14 win at home to Dorchester last weekend.

This weekend, they take on the Somerset outfit, who lost their opening fixture to Sherborne 29-17.

Despite picking up an impressive maiden result, Barrett is under no illusions that tomorrow’s hosts will provide a stiff test for his troops.

“We are away to Frome and they have obviously started the season with a decent away performance, and home advantage puts them in the driving seat,” said Barrett.

“So, we expect them to be really strong and we are expecting a physical encounter. We had two close fixtures with them last year.

“We are going to go down there and play our game. We will look to retain possession and we will try to make it two wins from two, if we can.

“It’s a good start for us. Our first and second teams both won last weekend, and that is where you want to be.

“This league is not going to be easy, so hopefully we are able to get every point that we can.”

In South West One East, Royal Wootton Bassett will hope to build on their two opening wins of the season as they face Salisbury away from home.

Swindon, meanwhile, were heavily beaten by Newbury Blues last Saturday and will aim for redemption at home to Old Centralians.

They will be boosted by the return of skipper Mike Thompson after he was unavailable for their 85-point hammering last weekend.

In Dorset & Wilts One, Supermarine will also be seeking a marked improvement after they failed to get on the scoresheet at home to Combe Down in their opening match last weekend.

On Saturday, they face Melksham at home, with the club also celebrating its Presidents’ Day in its 60th year.
