SWINDON Supermarine boss Lee Spalding says it is important his troops make the most of home advantage as they welcome Yate Town to the Webbswood Stadium this evening.

Marine go into the Southern League Challenge Cup preliminary round clash off the back of a disappointing 3-1 Southern League Premier Division South defeat at Walton Rovers at the weekend.

However, Spalding is looking for a response from his men when they return to action tonight and admits he will be making changes to his team.

“I’ll change the team a little bit because there are players who need minutes and I think it’s important I look at other players as well,” he said.

“On the back of the first-half performance on Saturday, players can’t be complaining if they’re not playing.

“Other players will now get an opportunity. If they come in and do the business then it’s a case of giving them the shirt.

“We have to dust ourselves off and try to win the game, it’s really important we go out to win the game.

“Every single game is important, and it is important we turn up ready and focussed.

“That won’t be easy but it will be the order of the day if we want to achieve anything this season.”

Elsewhere, in the Hellenic League, Royal Wootton Bassett return to Premier Division action after their 4-0 defeat to Bashley in the FA Vase.

Tonight they welcome Lydney Town, with the aim of picking up three points.

Manager Sam Collier says he will not make too many amendments to his team as they too look to redeem themselves from the weekend.

“We are very keen to put it right and in some ways it’s good to have a game straight away however the league fixtures are relentless currently, this will be our 14th game in 45 days,” he said.

“It’s very difficult for us to train and work on things which we have identified as a concern when we have back to back games.

“However the gods above who make the fixture list don’t take anything like that into consideration. It’s the same for everyone on the league.

“Due to the heavy fixtures I will be forced to use the strong squad we have and will make chances just to give people a rest if anything.

“We have a great team spirit and the lads are not getting to dishearten about Saturday, It’s a long old season and having been favourites to go down we are doing okay.”
