SWINDON Supermarine made safe progress in the Southern League Challenge Cup tonight with a 4-1 win at home to Yate Town.

Lee Spalding’s side led 1-0 at half-time through Connor Thompson’s strike, having earlier missed the chance to break the deadlock when Brad Hooper saw a penalty saved.

Debutant Baboucarr Jarra doubled the lead just after the hour mark and Joe Selman made it 3-0 with 10 minutes to go.

Yate pulled a goal back through Dave Simms-Burgess before Stuart Fleetwood sealed Marine’s win with the hosts’ fourth goal at the death.

Elsewhere, Royal Wootton Bassett Town recovered from 2-0 down at half-time to win 3-2 at home to Lydney Town in the Hellenic League Premier Division.

Dale Richards kicked off the comeback and Brad Pagliaroli scored twice in the closing stages to complete a battling Bassett win.
