SWINDON Robins boss Alun Rossiter has urged supporters to flock to the Abbey Stadium for their last meeting of the year.

Belle Vue Aces head to Wiltshire for tonight’s concluding SGB Premiership fixture after the initial clash was called off due to bad weather.

With the play-off places and Knockout Cup already sorted, there is little resting on the outcome of the contest.

However, while Rossiter understands why people may not want to attend, he has has called for Swindon fans to turn out in their numbers, warning the club could be put in a difficult position financially.

Rossiter said: “It’s crucial people turn up. I get that technically there is nothing on the meeting, but actually there is.

“The survival of the club is on it. Over the course of the Knockout Cup, we lost money.

“We need the club to be around and to be financially stable.

“The owner can’t keep pumping money in. We try and do deals, we are proactive with stuff like that.

“We are trying to encourage and there are a lot of things happening in the next few weeks which will hopefully benefit the club for next year.

“Sometimes it’s all about supporting your team and this is a league match which needs to be completed.

“We still need the support. It’s going to be a good day. I think it’s going to be 22 degrees, so it will be a nice day.

“This season hasn’t worked. I get it and I need to go back to the drawing board. But until I know what I’m looking at, it’s difficult.”

Owner Terry Russell revealed plans to rip up the current Abbey Stadium track over the winter and lay down a new foundation for Swindon next season.

The development of the Abbey is another positive that Rossiter is eager to see as they prepare to have their last meeting on the current set-up.

“It will be the last meeting on the track as it is,” he added.

“There is no farewell meeting or anything like that.

“I think with the way the bikes have gone, I think it should make for better racing anyway.

“The straights we have at the moment are very long, so when you come out of the bends, it’s very difficult to do anything.

“We’ve had issues with the shale this year too but hopefully we have covered that now.

“I think everything will be better in general.”

For their Knockout Cup semi-final second-leg meeting with Kings Lynn Stars 10 days ago, Rossiter was without Adam Ellis (shoulder) and reserve duo of Jack Smith (illness) and Zach Wajtknecht (back).

Two-thirds of his injury list will be restored to the line-up as Ellis and Smith have both recovered.

The same cannot be said for teenager Wajtknecht as he is still suffering with a back problem he picked up whilst on duty for Lakeside Hammers and has also withdrawn from his call-up for the final round of the World U21 Championship in Pardubice on Friday.

Supporters are reminded that re-admission tickets from the abandoned Swindon v Belle Vue fixture on September 6 will be honoured, at entry prices of £11 adults, £8 concessions and £3 for 11-16s.
