NATIONWIDE D remain at the foot of the Swindon & District Netball League Division Five after slipping to a 10-point loss at home to Croft D on Saturday.

The loss stretches Nationwide’s winless run this season to five games, however Croft took advantage of the home side’s form to jump up to seventh.

With only six players, Nationwide put in a brave performance and were level by the end of the first quarter.

By half-time, the hosts managed to create a five-goal cushion between themselves and Croft – who started to stamp their authority on the game in the second half.

Lacking a seventh player hurt Nationwide, who were put to the sword by a clinical Croft side who pulled clear in the third quarter before winning by 10 goals.

A wind-affected Division Five contest saw Royal Wootton Bassett C record an 11-point victory against Raychem F.

Despite Raychem taking an early one-goal lead, Bassett’s defending and accurate feeds allowed them to pile up the points as the match went on with Tilly Gould eventually earning player of the match honours.

In Division Three, Royal Wootton Bassett A were held to an entertaining 45-45 draw at home to Croft C.

Prolific attacking play from both teams saw Bassett and Croft leak goals, which eventually resulted in a tie.

Bassett now trail league leaders RTM by seven points while Croft remain bottom of the table having secured three points from five games.

Meanwhile in Division Four, Royal Wootton Bassett B stretched their unbeaten run to four-games after coasting past Burmah C, eventually recording a 35-16 victory.
