RICHIE Wellens hopes midfielder Jak McCourt won’t be missing from his Swindon Town squad for too long after he dislocated his shoulder against Port Vale this afternoon.

McCourt was substituted on the hour mark by Wellens after referee Peter Wright stopped the game while Sid Nelson contested a header on the right.

The 23-year-old remained standing throughout his treatment – which was delivered by doctors from both Town and Vale’s camps following frantic calls for help from the referee Wright and Town forward Elijah Adebayo.

The extent of McCourt’s injury is yet to be revealed, however Town boss Wellens is hopeful his midfielder won’t be out for too long.

“He’s a scouser so he’s a bit soft – he’s in the dressing room screaming,” joked Wellens.

“I think he’s had this injury before and recovered quite quickly.

“If the shoulder slips straight back in without a problem then it shouldn’t be too long.

“But we don’t know yet, I’m not great with dislocated shoulders.”
