A GOAL with four seconds left of overtime saw Swindon Wildcats suffer a 5-4 defeat at Bracknell Bees in NIHL South One tonight.

The two sides could not be separated over the allotted hour at the John Nike Leisure Complex, and it looked like being the same story over the additional five minutes.

However, the Cats were stung in the dying seconds when Edward Knaggs fired a last-gasp winner for the Bees.

The Cats got off to a tough start and trailed by two goals inside the opening 12 minutes as Brendan Baird and Shaun Thompson both hit the back of the net for Bracknell.

Swindon swiftly found their form, though, and goals from Edgars Bebris and Neil Liddiard drew them level by the end of the first period before the two sides played out a goalless second session.

The visitors then got their noses in front of the first time inside the opening 90 seconds of the third period when Max Birbraer struck, but Bracknell soon restored parity through Aidan Doughty.

Zack Milton then fired the Bees back in front, but Swindon refused to roll over and a second for Bebris on the night with just over two minutes to play sent the contest to overtime – which ultimately saw the home side snatch the win at the death through Knaggs’ late intervention.
