LAWRENCE Vigouroux is in no rush to decide his Swindon Town future as he prepares to enter the final six months of his contract.

Goalkeeper Vigouroux signed from Premier League side Liverpool in the summer of 2016, putting pen to paper on a three-year deal with Town after spending the previous season on loan at the club.

He made 46 appearances in his maiden campaign as a permanent Swindon player and has made a further 32 over the following season-and-a-half, which included a spell away on loan at League of Ireland side Waterford last term.

The 25-year-old is one of the most valuable assets in the Town squad but could leave for free next summer when his contract expires.

Although still enjoying his time at the Energy Check County Ground, Vigouroux says any decision on his future will be made further down the line.

“I have been speaking to my family and the people who help me behind the scenes,” said Vigouroux.

“Nothing has really changed, I am just concentrating on taking it one day at a time and we will see what happens.

“I am not in a rush to leave the club as I really enjoy being here, and I am not in a rush to sign right now – I am just going to wait and see what happens, that is the most important thing.”

Vigouroux is expected to return to action for Swindon this afternoon when they host Newport County in League Two, having been rested for last weekend’s FA Cup defeat at home to non-league side Woking.

The Town stopper admitted that result was a bitter blow, but with Town hunting a third straight league win and the potential to trim the gap to the play-off places to a single point, there is still plenty to be upbeat about.

“We were disappointed to get knocked out of the FA Cup and hopefully we can put that right,” said Vigouroux.

“You can’t get too down when you lose. I know it is awful and the fans get on our backs, but if you can turn it around and get a win – look how much joy there was after we beat Stevenage.

“From looking down, now we are looking up. We have just got to make sure we keep our heads screwed on and not get too high or too low.

“We have won two games in a row and we are four points off the play-offs, but after we lost to Carlisle, we were 10 points off.

“Nothing is won in December, so it is about making sure we are around the pack and seeing if we can claw a few points back along the way.”
