Swindon Advertiser:

ONE TO WATCH: Jayden Stockley

SWINDON Town will have to stifle the current biggest goal threat in League Two if they are to overcome Exeter City at home on New Year’s Day.

No player in the fourth tier has scored more than the 16 goals registered by Jayden Stockley this season - with Tranmere Rovers striker James Norwood also having hit the same figure.

Stockley’s goal in the Grecians’ 2-1 defeat at home to Grimsby Town on Saturday took his tally to five in three games over the Christmas period so far, with the 25-year-old having started that run with a hat-trick at Oldham Athletic on December 22.

Swindon will be well aware of Stockley’s threats as he notched against them during Exeter’s 2-0 win at St James Park in the reverse fixture back in October.

KEY BATTLE: Marc Richards v Dean Moxey

SWINDON Town manager Richie Wellens was able to welcome back Marc Richards from injury against Mansfield Town at the weekend, with the 36-year-old coming off the bench for the final quarter.

Striker Richards had missed the previous two months due to injury, but after looking lively for 25 minutes against the Stags, Wellens may well be tempted to throw him in from the off against Exeter City on New Year’s Day.

Should he lead the line for Swindon, Richards will likely come up against Dean Moxey in the heart of the Exeter defence.

The 32-year-old has missed only two of the Grecians’ 25 League Two games this term so is the lynchpin within their back-line.
