Swindon Advertiser:

ONE TO WATCH: John Akinde

LINCOLN City striker John Akinde has possessed something that Swindon Town have severely lacked in front of goal this season.

Following the departure of Elijah Adebayo last week, Town’s current best striker is Sol Pryce – who scored two goals against Stevenage in November.

Keshi Anderson, Marc Richards and Scott Twine have all scored two goals too, but have played more.

Therefore, Akinde must be looking to add to his record – knowing it’s likely that one goal could be enough to secure a valuable three points.

With Town likely to shuffle their pack at the back against the Imps on Saturday, Akinde has a good opportunity to add to his tally.

KEY BATTLE: Marc Richards v Jason Shackell

A WEEK ago, Marc Richards remained under increasing pressure from the Swindon Town faithful to deliver the goods he produced exactly 12 months ago when first linking up with the club from Northampton Town.

He still remains under pressure, but it was eased somewhat last weekend after the 36-year-old tucked his header from Jak McCourt’s free-kick into the net to level the clash at Macclesfield Town, which Swindon went on to win.

A goal against the league leaders could finally spark Richards’ season into life, but reliable centre-half Jason Shackell will be determined to keep Lincoln City’s impressive defensive record intact – which has seen Danny Cowley’s men concede just 24 goals from 25 fixtures.
