PLAYER RATINGS:

Lawrence Vigouroux: 6.5

Had very little to do but reacted well when called upon. Concentration was key for Vigouroux and that is all you can ask for from your goalkeeper when in games with little action.

Luke Woolfenden 7.5

The Ipswich loanee was impressive in his right-back slot and contributed well going forward on such rare occasions, as shown with his headed goal.

Dion Conroy: 6.5

Solid as a rock at the back and is benefitting form a continuous run of games in the heart of defence.

Tom Broadbent 6.5

Another mature display from the stand-in captain. Showed real leadership qualities and nothing got past him.

Kyle Knoyle 6.5

Knoyle managed the switch of flanks adequately and never gave his opposite number a sniff. Town must surely be looking to tie him down again for next year.

Canice Carroll 7

Showed all the energy and enthusiasm of a young kid in the playground. Took his first goal for the club well too.

Jak McCourt 7

Did the job that Wellens asked him to do perfectly and appears to show a wise head on young shoulders. He has come a long way already this season.

James Dunne 7

Continued to pop up all over midfield and played a beautifully-weighted pass into Woolfenden for the second goal. Seems to have reigned in his aggression too which is helpful.

Kyle Bennett 6.5

Didn’t really have the sparkle of last week for me, but did make more a contribution in the second half, topped off with a fierce strike that Gilmartin helped in.

Kaiyne Woolery 7

One of the favourite sights of any Town fan is Woolery running at opposition defences. After a bit of a wake-up call from Wellens last week, he appeared to take heed of his manager’s advice and caused all kinds of problems this afternoon.

Theo Robinson 7.5

He is fast becoming a cult hero at the club and with another performance like this one today, it is easy to see why. The only thing keeping him from an 8 and another MOTM was a goal.

SUBSTITUTES:

Anderson 6.5

Came on at a point when Colchester had nothing left and caused them problems they did not need. Looked lively and created a couple of half-chances.

Diagouraga 6, Bancroft 6

Neither had much time to make an impression but Bancroft could well be one for the future. Looked like a top athlete considering his age. Nice to see Diagouraga back involved.
