STRIKER Josh Parsons has left Swindon Supermarine to join in-from Hellenic League Premier Division side Shrivenham.

After struggling with a series of injuries this season, Parsons has rarely featured for Lee Spalding’s Marine in recent months.

With the Webbswood Stadium side continuing their ascent towards the Southern League Premier Division South play-off places, both Parsons and the club felt it would be best for him to move to pastures new in order to increase his game time.

Parsons has played a handful of games already for Shrivvy this term, netting three times since making his debut for the Barrington Park side in their 3-0 derby win against Fairford Town on February 9.

He also scored in Shrivvy’s 3-2 away win at Ascot United, while featuring in their most recent win against Longlevens – a game that stretched their consecutive winning run to 11 games.

Since joining Marine back in 2012, Parsons went on to score 122 goals in 150 games for the club and is second on their all-time top scorer list, 14 behind Damon York.

Regarding Parsons’ departure, a statement on the Supermarine club website read: “The manager (Lee Spalding) and his team would like to thank Josh for his service over the past few seasons and wish him all the best wherever his football takes him.”

Parsons’ departure closely follows defender Zak Westlake’s exit to near-neighbours Highworth Town as Marine continue to trim their squad with a view to improving the playing staff at their disposal.
