Swindon Advertiser:

ONE TO WATCH: Ricky Miller

PORT Vale have had to do without the services of top scorer Tom Pope due to injury in recent weeks, and that has given Ricky Miller a chance to stake his claim.

Miller is in his first season with the Valiants after joining on a free transfer from Peterborough United last summer.

The 30-year-old has made 30 appearances this term, but almost half of those – 13 to be exact – have come off the bench.

Pope’s absence has seen Miller named in the starting XI for Vale’s last two matches – both of which have ended in victory.

In his first game back in the team on March 9, Miller got both goals as Vale beat Mansfield Town 2-1.

KEY BATTLE: Kyle Knoyle v David Worrall

RIGHT-BACK Kyle Knoyle has seen himself shunted across to the opposite flank during recent matches for Swindon Town, but after being dropped to the bench for Tuesday night’s trip to Stevenage, he could well reclaim that place after Richie Wellens’ side slipped to a 2-0 defeat.

If he is back in the team at left-back, Knoyle would directly come up against David Pope when Port Vale visit SN1 this weekend.

The 28-year-old has primarily been playing on the right-hand side of a three-man attack for the Valiants, and as they travel to Wiltshire hunting a third successive League Two win, there seems little reason to suggest manager John Askey will change his thinking.
