SWINDON Town are set to commemorate the heroes of 1969 with an array of special events before, during and after the game against Port Vale this afternoon.
The exact date of the famous win fell yesterday, but with a conveniently-placed home game just a day after, Town are planning a number of ideas to celebrate the achievement.
A unique programme has been produced that will feature extracts from the original copy from 1969 as well as profiles on all 13 men involved, interviews with a handful of the players and memories from fans.
At half-time, a selection of the playing squad from that wonderful day and members of manager, Danny Williams’ family will take part in a lap of honour around the County Ground pitch.
Former members of the Town playing staff that are set to feature include; Don Rogers, John Trollope, Peter Downsborough, Rod Thomas, Joe Butler and Frank Burrows.
The players, led by goal-scoring hero Rogers, will hold the famous trophy aloft to the Town faithful so everyone present can show their appreciation to the club’s greatest ever crop of players.
And after the game, there will be a Q&A session with the League Cup winning players in the Legends Lounge – tickets for which can be downloaded from the club’s e-ticketing website.
