Swindon Town club captain Olly Lancashire will join Crewe Alexandra on a two-year deal once his current contract in Wiltshire ends on July 1.

David Artell's side defeated Town in both meetings last term - a 1-0 victory at home before returning to the County Ground and emerging 2-1 victors - and were keen to bolster their defensive options after losing George Ray and Michael Raynes.

After being signed by David Flitcroft in the summer of 2017, the 30-year-old centre back played 58 times for the Robins across two seasons - scoring twice - yet failed to make a single appearance under current manager Richie Wellens.

Wellens cited injury problems as the primary reason for the experienced defender's absence, yet speaking to the Swindon Advertiser, Lancashire claimed he had been fit for 'about five months.'

Lancashire will likely face his old club again next season, although the dates will not be known until the EFL fixture release on June 20.
