BOOKMAKERS have slashed the odds available for Richie Wellens to be named as the new Doncaster Rovers boss, following the departure of Grant McCann.

McCann’s departure from the Keepmoat Stadium on Friday was immediately followed by bookies’ show for the vacant manager market.

Town boss Wellens was initially priced 10/1 by BetVictor, those odds have since halved – with the 39-year-old now 5/1 to join the League One outfit.

SkyBet have priced Wellens even shorter, naming him the 5/2 favourite to complete a County Ground move.

Other candidates include former West Bromwich Albion boss Darren Moore (3/1), David Flitcroft and Michael Appleton (9/1) plus Michael Appleton (10/1).

We have contacted Richie Wellens for a comment and are waiting for a reply.
