SWINDON Town have cancelled the opening of their fan zone after yellow weather warnings were put in place for tomorrow afternoon.

The County Ground was due to host an exciting new venture ahead of every kick-off that aimed to help build on the relationship between the club and the community, however, due to high winds and heavy rain being forecast prior to Town's opening League Two match against Carlisle United, those plans have been put on hold for the time being.

In a statement put out on Swindon Town's official Twitter account, the club said: "We're really disappointed to announce that, due to the yellow weather warnings forecast in the area, the fanzone will not be open for tomorrow's game.

"We wanted to make the decision as early as possible to prevent any disappointment on the day.

"With heavy rain and gale-force winds anticipated, the club acted on advice to cancel the opening of the fanzone.

"The Junior Reds Room will be open as usual for families to enjoy."

The fan zone is now expected to launch ahead of Town's third home league game against Morecambe on August 31.
